Scout is an easy-to-use moving camera robot. It is also an open-source ROS robotic development platform. Some advanced features can be complex for some people. Before ordering, please read the user manual and FAQ on this product detail page to understand its capability and limitation.

Can I see the video remotely?

The Moorebot Scout App allows you to monitor your home from anywhere in the world up to 1080P image quality on both Android and IOS devices. Two-way voice is also supported. Scout must be set up on your Home Wi-fi network to enable this feature.

How do I charge? How long will Scout work before needing to recharge?

Scout requires a USB 2.0 Type A adapter with 5V / >2A output. Scout is not compatible with USB Type C fast chargers. The battery can last over 2 hours, 1 hour using night vision, and will take up to 3 hours to charge from a completely depleted state.

How to set up patrol?

Scout doesn’t scan and build map due to privacy reasons. It follows pre-programmed path by user using Scout’s App. Open space has higher chance to complete patrol. If too many obstacles, the bot could give up and try to return to the charger.

Why can’t I connect to the robot?

When first power up, the bot is in WiFi direct mode. You should see a WiFi hotspot, “robot_scout_xxx”. Connect to it with password “r0123456”. Do a reset if not working. IOS users need to grant permission to Scout App and may need set airplane mode.

How to achieve better navigation accuracy?

OTA update to the latest firmware. Calibrate the sensors from time to time, from App setup section. Consider to convert to Track version using 3D printer or model E. The track mechanic files are loaded on this detail page, download section.
